The NGO Committee for Social Development enacts a variety of initiatives to elevate the voices of civil society on issues related to social development at the UN, especially during the Commission for Social Development held at the UN HQ in New York each February. The NGO Committee is actively engaged in collaborative strategic planning, aiming to shape a just and inclusive global social development agenda capable of addressing the needs of today.
In partnership with UN DESA and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, a significant event the NGO CSocD organizes each year is the Civil Society Forum, an official part of the Commission for Social Development programming. The Civil Society Forum creates a special space for civil society and grassroots voices at the UN, and provides the opportunity to present to and interact with Member States (especially members of the Bureau) and other stakeholders.
