The 2026 regular session of the Committee on NGOs will take place from 26 January to 20 February at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The Committee will meet again on 20 February 2026 to adopt its report of the session.

  • Election of officers
  • Adoption of the agenda and other organizational matters
  • Strengthening of the Non-Governmental Organizations Branch
  • Review of the methods of work of the Committee: implementation of Council resolution 1996/31, including the process of accreditation of representatives of non-governmental organizations, and Council decision 1995/304
  • General voluntary trust fund in support of the United Nations Non-‍Governmental Organizations Informal Regional Network
  • Special reports
  • Deferred applications for consultative status and requests for reclassification
  • New applications for consultative status and requests for reclassification

The 2026 regular session is expected to consider 237 new applications for status by NGOs as well as 381 applications deferred from earlier sessions. The Committee will also review new quadrennial reports of 773 NGOs in general or special consultative status, as well as 154 quadrennial reports from 107 organizations, deferred from earlier sessions. The session's recommendations will be sent to the Economic and Social Council for its approval during the meetings of the management segment of the Council to be held from 10 to 11 June 2026.View less
